Mount Olive Lutheran Church understands the importance of outreach and evangelism to its community, as exemplified by its mission statement, "Growing in faith and love by spreading the Word of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ."
“We are committed to outreach, education and evangelism,” Pastor Paul C. Sizemore said. “But not just within our congregation. It’s important that we extend our programs into the Columbia area communities as well.”
Mount Olive is grateful for the opportunity to serve others. For example, the church congregation participates and hosts semi-annual blood drives, has ongoing donations to a local food bank, and provides funds and meals to the local Ronald McDonald House. These are just several ways Mount Olive serves its community.
The Mount Olive Lutheran Preschool serves the community by providing a caring, Christian learning environment for children ages two to four. Certified teachers offer a literature-based curriculum with Zoo-phonics and add lots of fun and play to make the most of the children’s preschool years. Also included are a variety of activities including cooking, Spanish and drama lessons to help prepare children for kindergarten with confidence. The Preschool has open enrollment for all classes, 9AM-Noon including optional Fun Fridays for two- and three-year-olds. For more information, contact Krista Bernthal, Preschool Director, at 803-781-7180 or email.
The communities in South Carolina that are served by Mount Olive include Columbia, Lexington, Irmo, Blythewood, Chapin, Elgin, West Columbia, Little Mountain, Prosperity, Lugoff and Hopkins.
